Search engine searches increased by 62% in 2020
DuckDuckGo's user base has grown significantly over the past year, largely due to the fact that more and more people are becoming concerned about data and how it's used online.

This month, specifically on January 11, 2021, DuckDuckGo received 102,251,307 search queries, for the first time.
The engine believes that this increase in users is due to people becoming more concerned about their privacy when using the internet. Every day we hear about data breaches, and it is known that many companies monitor our online activity. Therefore, users are looking for solutions that focus on protection to stay as safe as possible.
The search engine also highlighted that major news stories, such as recent concerns about data sharing between WhatsApp and Facebook, led to increased searches.

According to StatCounter, DuckDuckGo has become the second most popular search engine on mobile devices in the US, UK, California and elsewhere, thanks to this rapid growth.
