British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said on Sunday that he was "absolutely certain" of the UK's allegations that Russia was involved in the hacking of coronavirus research , calling the act "outrageous and reprehensible."
Britain, the United States and Canada on Thursday accused a hacking, known as APT29, of leading cyberattacks on various organizations involved in developing coronavirus vaccines.
Moscow immediately dismissed the accusations as "baseless" and its ambassador to London said in a British television interview on Sunday that the allegations made no sense.
However, Raab said the three countries' conclusion came from assessments by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and its counterparts in the US and Canada.
For his part, Andrei Kelin, who was appointed Moscow's top envoy to Britain last November, ridiculed these claims in an interview with the BBC.
He also rejected Britain's allegations that Russian hackers had tried to interfere in the country's elections last year
Raab said on Thursday that malicious actors working for the Russian government leaked commercial documents between Britain and the United States in an attempt to overturn the election results.
Russia and Britain have been at odds since Moscow was accused of trying to kill double agent Sergei Skripal, with the help of a powerful military agent, in 2018.
The attack in Salisbury, in southwest England, took place 12 years after the poisoning of former spy Alexander Litvinenko in London.
Russia once again denied involvement, and Kelin said the country is ready to counter the confrontations.
