Recently, YouTube introduced an additional feature, Profile Cards. This is a feature that is currently only available on devices with Android software but will be enhanced to other device models in the future. Profile Cards provide the ability to detect and display the search and comment history of YouTube users as well as their personal details and information. The ultimate goal of this innovation is for YouTube to recognize and “identify” its users every time they visit it. In addition, this new addition will facilitate users’ access , their communication with other users, and the display of relevant comments.
To use Profile Cards, simply tap on profile to see their card. This will display information like their name, profile photo, subscriptions, subscriber , and recent comments in a pop-up card. All of this information is available to the YouTube audience, but the profile card brings it all together in one place.
If someone has subscribed to a commenter’s channel, the profile card will show this immediately. If this does not happen automatically, then someone can start following a commenter by clicking on the “Subscribe” link. It should be noted, however, that the Profile Card does not show a user’s entire Comment History, but only the comments that are on the channel that each user is visiting.
The Profile Card could also make it easier to spot trolls. The ability to view the history of each commenter on a channel can help assess whether comments come from a “trustworthy” and “safe” user to publish, or if they will be hidden.
Finally, Profile Cards are one of the few innovative settings that YouTube is launching. Other new settings are in the Subscriptions feed on iOS that make it easier for subscribers to filter their subscriptions with options like “Today,” “Unwatched,” “Live,” “Posts,” and “Continue Watching.”
