Popular radio network Entercom has been hit by a new cyberattack, affecting key operations, causing many stations to not play live programming.
It is the second attack on the network in four months. In September, Entercom fell victim a ransomware attack and large sums of money were lost.
The Entercom network is very popular. It has more than 235 radio stations and broadcasts news of various categories: news, sports, music, etc. Over 170 million people listen to it every month.
The systems crashed, but then were restored

The attack occurred on Sunday but did not cause as many problems as the ransomware attack in September. Most issues were restored by Monday morning.
Most of the equipment related to broadcasting news was unaffected, but some stations were unable to broadcast music and other types of content. Entercom experienced some connectivity issues, which prevented email communication and access to files and other content.
The fact that the problems were quickly fixed means that the measures security the radio network used after the ransomware attack were effective.
During the ransomware attack, Entercom lost millions of dollars on new systems , which are considered an investment.
The hackers reportedly demanded $500,000 from Entercom. However, it is not known whether the company ultimately paid the ransom.
