The UK government has revealed its partnership with Arm Ltd on a £36 million initiative to create more secure processors.

According to figures , around 60% of medium-sized and 61% of large businesses in the UK have suffered cyberattacks or breaches in the past year. Arm's connection is part of the government's Digital Security by Design initiative, which is also supported by Microsoft and Google.
Arm's chief architect, Richard Grisenthwaite, said that achieving device security requires a radical change in the way technology companies deal with cyberattacks . At the same time, the government announced an additional 18 million lira in funding through the Strategic Priorities Fund, designed to help tackle online fraud, privacy abuses and online disinformation.
The first partnership announced is between Toshiba Research Europe, the University of Bristol, GCHQ and Roke Manor Research and will aim to develop more resilient wireless networks to counter financial extortion, terrorism and disruptive attacks.
