Passwords 2018: The password (password) you are using is sunshine, or monkey? Bad news: if a hacker tries to breach your account, guessing the password will be one of the first things they will try.
SplashData, a company developing password managers SplashID, TeamsID and Gpass, has just released the annual catalog “of the worst passwords”.
The company examined over 5 million passwords that leaked in 2018 and published the 25 most common. Overall, these passwords are used by 10% of internet users.
Even though most of the passwords that exist in the list have appeared in previous lists, the new list also includes the passwords: princess, sunshine, !@#$%^&*, and donald.
If you are using any of the passwords below, replace it immediately with a stronger one. Strong passwords can have more than 16 characters, letters (lowercase-uppercase) and special symbols.
Because it is nature impossible to remember such passwords, use a password manager. The Keepass application is open source, free and very reliable. It stores passwords locally (on your computer) and not in the cloud, with very strong encryption.
