Android: Saving battery life is an important chapter for all smartphone users. But beyond preserving battery life in daily use, have you ever thought about the overall life of your phone's battery?
Over time, batteries wear out, as we recently saw with the iPhone slowdown.
Batteries can't hold a charge as well as they once did, and so your device's usage decreases faster throughout the day even when your battery is fully charged. So, it seems very important to be able to check the health of your phone's battery to see what you can do to preserve it.
Below we will see a free app that will help you do this on Android.
You can download the Accubattery app. It's not the only one that deals with the health of your battery, but it seems to do a great job.
Once installed, the app will show you a short introduction about what it does, including a battery life survey. They have found that by only charging your battery to 80 percent maximum (instead of 100 percent), you can increase your battery's longevity quite a bit.
Eventually, you'll be presented with a control panel where you can set a charging notification.
The app recommends setting the limit to 80 percent, but you can choose a different one if you want. After that, the app will run a quick calibration and you're good to go.
To see the results, you'll need to use your device normally for a while.
After a while, the Accubattery app will collect the information it needs about your phone's battery and its usage, and will show you the statistics. It will show results after a day or two of use, but the results will be much more reliable after using the app for weeks or even months.
The app will show you how long your battery lasts in the discharge tab, as well as details about average battery consumption, usage per app, and more.
Use the Charging tab to see how quickly your device is charging and the Health tab to check your battery wear and see how it compares to a new one.
