A foreign woman who was uploading pornographic material featuring underage girls to the Dark Web was arrested by Greek police. At the same time, the identities of the three girls who were victims of this woman were verified, while the entire operation was part of the dismantling of a global ring.
As the police state in their statement, the case was solved by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, while a criminal case was filed against the foreign national for abuse of minors in indecency, child pornography, and weapons and drug laws.
"The investigation of the case is part of a global operation to identify and identify minor victims of sexual abuse and trafficking of audiovisual material via internet" the announcement states.
It all started when child pornography material (47 photos and 11 videos) featuring the foreign woman and three underage girls was discovered on the public and dark web.
The information collected was brought to the attention of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office and a relevant order was issued to lift the confidentiality of the communications. Appropriate use was made of the pre-investigation material and it was determined that the unknown woman is the aforementioned foreign national.
In coordinated investigations that followed, in the morning hours of June 12, 2019, at the foreign national's residence and in (4) other residences, in the presence of a judicial officer and with the assistance of police officers from the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime of Northern Greece and local police services, the following were found and seized:
· (4) mobile telephone devices,
· portable electronic device, tablet type,
· (6) hard drives,
· (2) cameras,
· (4) portable computers,
· (2) mobile phone connection cards,
· bank card,
· bank document with instructions and codes for using electronic banking,
· dagger in a leather sheath,
· firearm – pistol with a magazine containing (4) blank cartridges,
· cartridge transport box, with (24) blank cartridges and
· (3) homemade raw cannabis cigarettes.
From the on-site investigation of digital evidence and the continuation of the preliminary investigation, the details of (3) underage girls - victims of the foreigner, who systematically produced pornographic content files, which she distributed via an online application to other users, for a fee, were verified.
It is noted that the dagger, the firearm, the box carrying cartridges and the cigarette cases were found in the home of a Greek citizen, where the foreign national was temporarily residing, and she was arrested for violating the laws on weapons and drugs.
The seized evidence was sent to the competent departments of the Criminal Investigations Directorate and to the General State Laboratory for laboratory tests.
"The arrested, with the case file filed against them, were taken to the competent Prosecutor, who referred them to an Investigating Officer," the police report.
