Google announced today that it will stop showing ads through Chrome that do not meet certain quality standards starting February 15, 2018.
Google had announced its intention to block annoying ads through Chrome since June, but today it announced a very specific date for the first time.
The quality standards that Google mentions are set by Better Ads – which the company itself founded. So by using the Better Ads standards, Google's browser will block all kinds of annoying ads.
What will these be? On desktops, they will be pop-up ads, or videos that play automatically with sounds, large sticky ads, and more. On mobile, they will include scrollover ads, flashing ads, etc.
If you are a page administrator and are interested in learning more, you can read the company's guides to displaying better ads from the links below:

Google will not stop at the above measures, however. If it does not agree with the display of an ad and you ignore the warning for more than 30 days, Google will ban all ads from that site.
So to show us who's the boss... and who can choose the quality ads, like the image below that a friend of the page sent us, and perhaps you've noticed in the past few days:
Of course, there will always be people who will try to find ways to circumvent the regulations..
