Apple appears to be canceling its plans to launch the second-generation iPhone, the iPhone SE, as the company wants to focus entirely on the three-model iPhone lineup it is expected to launch in 2018. This includes the 5.8-inch successor to the iPhone X, a 6.1-inch LCD model, and a Plus-sized 6.5-inch iPhone X.

The company was initially thought to be designing a new 4-inch model taking design features from the iPhone X, such as the notch and edge-to-edge display.
The reveal was expected in spring 2018, while some in the know claimed at the time that Apple could announce the new model at WWDC in early June.
Since there was no announcement at WWDC, it was speculated that the iPhone SE 2 launch would be pushed back to the fall, when the company would also release its other iPhone models. As a result, the second-generation SE series was expected to launch alongside the three new handsets mentioned above.
However, according to a report by Forbes, citing manufacturing company Olixar, the iPhone SE 2 is no longer in the company's plans, as Apple has abandoned the project in order to go all-in on the three more expensive and larger models planned for this fall.
Also referred to as the iPhone X Mini, the second-generation iPhone SE was meant to target a specific target audience that still has a lot of fans. 4-inch smartphones aren't as common anymore, thanks to the bezel- that manufacturers are adopting, which allows them to fit larger screens into smaller bodies, but Apple was one of the companies believed to remain committed to this size.
Without official confirmation, there's still hope for an iPhone SE 2 at some point in the future, but needless to say, Apple doesn't have much time to launch such a model. If there is indeed a chance for the second-generation SE to hit shelves, it's expected to be in September when all three models launch.
