You'll soon be able to identify almost any song playing near you with Google Assistant's music recognition software.

The feature was released a month ago, but was limited to Google's Pixel phones only.
Now, it has also been developed for Android devices that have Google Assistant enabled.
After holding down the Home button to activate the Assistant, simply ask it: “What song is this?” and it responds with the title, artist, and a short snippet of the lyrics.
The information card also contains links to YouTube and Google Music Play and a link to search for the song on Google.
The feature doesn't appear to have rolled out to all countries yet, although users in Canada, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Australia have reported that the feature is available to them.
Google 's software has been able to recognize music for some time, but this development will become more widespread across all Android devices.
The company had built the same functionality into Google Now in 2015, which it is now trying to replace with Google Assistant.
Apple previously partnered with Shazam in 2014 to power its song recognition software for Siri. It's unclear whether Google has built this capability into its device itself or is relying on third parties.
