As we had reported in a previous post, the new Fedora 26 Beta is released today: The Fedora team has just released a new development snapshot of the eponymous Linux distribution that is supported by Red Hat.
Fedora is one of the most popular GNU/Linux distributions. It is the result of the Fedora Project, a broad community of volunteers and is funded by Red Hat. The default environment of Fedora is the GNOME desktop and the default interface is GNOME Shell. Naturally it also supports other desktop environments, such as: KDE, Xfce, LXDE, MATE and Cinnamon which are released as custom ISOs in Fedora spins.
The new development release, Fedora 26 Beta, includes updated versions of the GNU Compiler Collection and Go. It also comes with a new partition manager for the Fedora system installer.
“Fedora, always on the road of innovation, is released with the latest version of the GNU Compiler Collection, also known as GCC, offering the latest language features and optimizations to users and the software they develop. The most recent version is 1.8, and includes support for MIPS 32 bit and comes with speed improvements.
One of the most important changes is the addition of blivet-gui to the installer. This provides a ‘building-blocks’ style partitioning GUI for sysadmins and enthusiastic users who know the details of storage systems.”
Additional information can be found in the release announcement in Fedora Magazine as well as in the Fedora 26 change log.
