If you are an Android user and have a rooted phone then there is some bad news for you.
Netflix may no longer work on your rooted device, due to a new app update. Netflix now relies entirely on Google, the company told Android Police. The change comes not long after Netflix was updated to allow offline downloads, which could be a reason for the change.
Rooting allows users to gain administrator access to their phone's operating system. Many users root their Android devices to gain greater control over the customization of the operating system or its efficiency, however, this action is not supported by phone manufacturers and usually voids the warranty on it.
The app continues to work normally for many users who already have rooted devices, but users will not be able to download the app if they don't already have it on their phone.
According to Android Police, loading the Netflix app using the APK still works fine on rooted phones.
