When it comes to the gadgets we use the most, sometimes transparency can't be that simple – just think about how long it took us to figure out what went wrong with the Galaxy Note 7. But literally, turning your phone's casing transparent might not be that difficult.
YouTuber JerryRigEverything did just that. He decided to create a transparent Galaxy S8, just like those classic Game Boy Colors that gamers loved in the mid-90s.
First, he removed the back cover of the phone, which as iFixit noted in its teardown of the device, is a difficult task and requires great care to avoid damage or cracks. Then, he used a special material that removed the color and texture and made the back of the phone look like glass.
After that, he removed some of the internals, like the wireless charging board and some of the plastic speaker parts, to expose some of the phone. Once he applied some adhesive tape to protect it from dust, the shiny back cover of the new S8 was completely transparent.
It certainly looks awesome – but by removing some of the components, the phone loses its wireless charging capability, is no longer waterproof, and comes with no warranty. Plus, we can't say for sure that the phone will actually work after the modifications it undergoes.
This is far from the first time the YouTuber has broken a brand new S8. There are also a few other videos on his account where he destroys an S8, in which he can be seen cutting it with a knife, burning it, and bending it. This time, at least, there was no "abuse" of the phone!
