Facebook today introduced Facebook Spaces, a new virtual reality app where you can chat with friends in a fun, interactive virtual environment as if they were in the same room.

Facebook Spaces is in beta and you can download it from the Oculus store.
You will need to create an identity that represents you so that your friends can recognize you. You can choose a pre-made photo from Facebook and edit it with a series of options for your VR appearance. You can change your eye color, hairstyle, facial features, even your gaze, to match your identity.
Once you connect with a friend, you can draw in the air with a virtual marker to create any design you can imagine.
You'll also find a rich variety of features, including 360-degree videos and photos that can transport you to new places. Through Facebook Spaces, you and your friends can relive personal memories from your own Facebook timeline, or even encourage your friends to explore people and Pages that interest you.
Of course, Facebook Spaces allows you to call a friend in the real world with a Messenger video call.
