GoDaddy buys Sucuri

GoDaddy has reached an agreement to acquire Sucuri, a provider of website security products and services. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sucuri is a security platform that offers a suite of security tools to protect websites from emerging cyber threats. Sucuri's suite of tools gives website owners the solution they need to respond to hacks when they happen, and patch vulnerabilities.GoDaddy Sucuri

The company provides a plug-in for the WordPress platform, and is actively involved in promoting awareness of WordPress website security and management issues.

“The vast majority of our customers are not website security experts, nor should they need to be to secure their websites,” said Kevin Doerr, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Security, GoDaddy.

“With Sucuri at GoDaddy, we will advance digital security for our customers by making it easy, timely, and affordable. We will continue to invest in Sucuri to co-develop products that advance security solutions.”

The Sucuri team consists of developers, analysts, and researchers focused on different types of attacks. This approach enables the development of a system that provides a seamless flow of information between internal teams and the larger online community. This process is key to Sucuri's product evolution and its ability to stay ahead of emerging threats.

“Since our founding, we have always had one and only goal, that of protecting our customers’ websites. We achieve this with two very simple approaches: developing applications that deliver value and staying ahead of emerging threats,” said Sucuri founder Daniel Cid.

“Now we have the opportunity to apply this same philosophy to millions of websites. It was clear from our conversations with GoDaddy that we share the same customer-centric philosophy and have a first commitment to helping our customers stay safe online.”

“Sucuri will continue to deliver great products and services to our customers, as we always have,” said Sucuri CEO Tony Perez.
