In May 2016, Gboard, Google's new app for the iPhone that allows you to search and send information, GIFs, emoji, and much more, directly from your mobile keyboard, made its debut.
A few months later, in July, the keyboard went global. Today, it's taking the next step and upgrading the Gboard experience on iPhones by adding 15 more languages, linking Google Doodles to the keyboard, making new emoji available, and introducing voice typing to Apple phones.
New languages and new emoji
Starting today, Gboard will also be available in Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, Catalan, Hungarian, Malay, Russian, Latin American Spanish, and Turkish. To get typing, searching, and sharing in these new languages, open the Gboard app and then go to Languages > Add a language.
Gboard speaks the universal language of emoji fluently. Users can search and send all the latest emojis from iOS 10. .?? ?
Google Doodles
Like on the Google homepage, you'll now see Google Doodle updates on Gboard for special dates throughout the year, including holidays, events, notable achievements, and birthdays of important people. On days with a Google Doodle, a 'G' button on your keyboard will move around nonstop. A quick press will open the artwork and provide more information about that day.
Say it faster
Everyday life is already busy and demanding enough. With today's update and the addition of voice typing, you can dictate directly into Gboard. To type such a message, simply tap the microphone icon.
To get started and enjoy the latest updates for Gboard on iPhone, head to the App Store and make sure your system is running the latest version of the app. Google is constantly working on new features and languages, so keep sharing your feedback and comments!
