Much talked about, much worn, much anticipated…but news about the Galaxy S8 is only two months away from the unveiling. The latest report reveals some of the features of Bixby, the virtual assistant.
Samsung is planning to integrate a virtual assistant into the upcoming Galaxy S8 that will allow users to conduct visual searches using the camera via optical search and OCR. The camera app will have its own Bixby button to search and edit the items the user's eye focuses on. The virtual assistant will analyze the image and identify the objects and text it needs through the tools.
Additionally, a payment processing feature will be included, which suggests that Bixby's features are similar to Google's virtual assistants, but Samsung is trying to deliver extensive functionality.
Bixby is initially planned to be installed on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus along with dual curved displays. It is claimed that Bixby will not be an exclusive privilege of the Galaxy S series as it will likely be available on the Galaxy Note series or some mid-range smartphones.
It is worth noting that in addition to Bixby, Samsung plans to introduce two new services, including “Shopping” and “Samsung Pay”.
Bixby is coming to the market dynamically to compete with the virtual assistants of other major manufacturers such as Google Assistant, Apple 's Siri and Amazon 's Alexa .
This was the latest news about the Galaxy S8, but more will surely emerge until its official release.
