As we reported in a previous article, one of the websites of the Venezuelan was recently hacked as a sign of protest against the dictatorship imposed by Nicolas Maduro, the country's president.
Kapustkiy, who has attacked other high-profile websites in the past, managed to hack the esguarnacpuntademata.mil.ve website, exposing more than 2,100 accounts. According to a reliable source, the names, email addresses, phone numbers, parents' names and military status of many individuals were leaked.
The Venezuelan Ministry of National Defense has not given any official response on the matter. However, the website is still operational despite the fact that the vulnerability has not been removed. The hacker gives a moral character to his attack as a sign of protest against the violence and fascism of the country's president.
Kapustkiy is a hacker with a lot of experience in attacks, judging by his past. In mid-November, he hacked the website of the Italian DIpartimento della Funzione Pubblica, exposing 45,000 accounts, while in December he breached the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands, gaining access to personal numbers and passports.
Although in the above cases he cooperated with the authorities to fix the vulnerabilities in this particular one, he decided to take an opposite stance, emphasizing that he is going to violate more areas of Venezuela as he wants to teach Nicolas Maduro a lesson about his dictatorial policies.
In the meantime, we are still waiting for the position that the country's Ministry of Defense intends to take regarding these developments.
