An Indian girl, residing in the US, has shown that she has what it takes to stand up to a cyber extortionist and hacker. Taruna Aswani has made public the emails her extortionist sent her, seeking help and support from the online community to help her hunt him down. In doing so, Taruna has set an example for many others facing extortion and hacking by hackers and extortionists.
Taruna received an email from an unknown hacker, who claimed to have hacked into her accounts. The hacker threatened Taruna that he would leak her private photos and videos online unless she took more nude photos of herself and sent them to him.
Instead of complying with the hacker’s threat, Taruna decided to go public. She made a Facebook post revealing all, in which she posted screenshots of the email sent to her by her blackmailer, who is a man named “Kevin John.” Taruna appealed to the online community through her Facebook post to help her track down the hacker so that he could turn himself in to the authorities.
Taruna's post went viral and a good Samaritan tagged the Mumbai Police who asked her to file a complaint.
Social media users from around the world have applauded Taruna's courage and congratulated her for resisting blackmail.
