At Facebook's F8 developer conference today, the company unveiled Account Kit, a new universal login system that can work through a phone device without passwords.
Facebook's new Account Kit will let developers create products where users can sign up with just their phone number, without requiring passwords, and requiring the developer to write the code that handles all the sign-ups and login workflows.
All this will be done through a special SDK, which developers will have to integrate into their services (in websites or applications).
Users will be able to log in by simply entering their phone number on a page or app that uses Account Kit to receive an SMS with their password, creating an account without having to enter a password they have to remember.
Facebook claims that it will support SMS login in over 230 countries and in 40 different languages.
To make the new feature even more tempting, Facebook announced that it is providing each developer with 100,000 free SMS verification messages per month.
It should also be mentioned that the new Account Kit is not limited to users who have a Facebook account.
The new service has already been tested on different websites, which offered to help with testing the beta SDK.
