Chinese company Xiaomi confirmed last week that it will announce the Xiaomi MI5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 trade show.
According to Xiaomi's global vice president, Mr. Hugo Barra, the MI5 will be officially unveiled at MWC 2016 on February 24. At the same time, the company plans to release the new smartphone in China.
The Xiaomi MI5 will come with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system pre-installed, along with MIUI 7.0.
What we don't know is that Xiaomi's partnership with Microsoft to release the Windows Mobile 10 ROM on the Mi4 will extend to the upcoming device.
According to a new report coming straight from China, Xiaomi is planning to release a version of the MI5 running Windows 10 Mobile on February 24th.
Both versions should be released at the same time, but their prices could be different. The good news is that Xiaomi will not make any changes to the hardware configuration, so both the Android and Windows Mobile 10 smartphones will have the same specifications.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed this information.
If Xiaomi does indeed release a Windows 10 version of the MI5, the smartphone is expected to come with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display that will support Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution. Different rumors, however, indicate that the device's display will have a full HD (1080p) resolution.
The device is rumored to include a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and will have 3GB or 4GB of RAM.
There is no mention of a microSD card slot, but rumors suggest that the Xiaomi MI5 will be powered by a 3,600 mAh battery with fast charging technology.
What we do know for sure is that the new Xiaomi MI5 will be available in four different color options: Black, Gold, Pink, and White.
