No more Java from browsers!

Oracle announced that it will withdraw the highly controversial Java plugin from browsers in the next release of the Java Development Kit, after its release next year.java

For many years, Java plugins have put users at risk with the numerous security gaps they contain.

Security company Kaspersky claims that the Java plugin is responsible for half of all cyber attacks in 2012. It should be noted that last July, hackers discovered an exploit and attempted to infect the systems of NATO members.

The plugin allows developers to start small applications on websites, and according to Oracle it will be completely removed from the Java 9 release.

The company even encourages users to abandon the helper applications that use the Java plugin and switch to the free Java Web Start technology.

An Oracle decision following the decision of Chrome and Firefox developers to stop supporting the company's plugins.

Let's hope that the Flash plugin will soon be discontinued by Adobe.
