Do you know about CVEs? 2015 has come to an end and so we can take a look back along with a total count of the critical or very critical security vulnerabilities of the year.Apple bug CVE

Over the past 365 days, independent security researchers, cybersecurity companies, and software manufacturers have reported security vulnerabilities in various products, which are known to us and identifiable by the corresponding CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures)

These CVE numbers are used to track security vulnerabilities across products and have been around in IT security circles for quite some time. This is because we have seen malicious users use them over and over again.

The surprise of the year according to CVE Details, a vulnerability inventory website, during 2015, the company for which the most new CVE numbers were recorded was Apple.

Researchers discovered a total of 654 security vulnerabilities in Apple products, 83 more than Microsoft's security vulnerabilities, which for 2015 recorded 571 vulnerabilities.

The rest of the Top 10 continues with Cisco (488 security bugs), Oracle (479 bugs), Adobe (460 bugs), Google (323 bugs), IBM (312 bugs), Mozilla (188 bugs), Canonical (153 bugs), and Novell with 143 bugs.

In terms of software that had bugs, Apple's OS X came in first with 384 security vulnerabilities, while iOS came in second, with 375 security vulnerabilities.

Third on the list, although everyone expected it to be first, is Adobe Flash Player. Surprise? During 2015, Flash had only 316 security flaws.
