iCloud was not hacked, Apple responds to Oleg Pliss' victims

Apple acknowledged the incident described since Monday by at least dozens of users, mainly from Australia, who found their iPhones, iPads and Macs locked and a message from “Oleg Pliss” asking them to deposit a ransom via PayPal in order to be able to use their smartphones, tablets and computers again.

The lock is considered to have been done with unauthorized access to iCloud and the lock service since the devices were reported as «lost». iCloud was not breached, they knew your Apple ID, says Apple.
The discussion on discussions.apple.com has expanded to 22 pages on the second day from 13 on the first and there are now posts from users in the United States, although they are counted on the fingers. In its brief statement, Apple states that iCloud was not compromised. It urges users - without mentioning their number or requests for support - to change their Apple ID, which is usually the user's primary email address. It also recommends not using the same username (in this case Apple ID) and password combination on other online services. Those who do not resolve the problem this way (most users report that their devices are already locked with an unknown passcode) are invited to take advantage of the AppleCare subscription service or visit Apple stores.
