Dedicated to the world of electronic games and the gaming community will be one day of the 9th SFF-rated ATHENS (Monday, March 24), the Athens International Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival.

The festival is hosted by the Mikrokosmos Filmcenter (106 Syngrou Ave., metro stop: Syngrou-Fix). A single daily ticket is available (8 euros for regular and 5 euros for students), which allows you to attend all four screenings of the day. The tribute starts at 17:30 and ends at midnight.
The movies
eXistenZ (1999): eXistenZ is one of the most important works by Canadian director David Cronenberg, in which a future unfolds where the virtual reality of games has become physical reality, and the heroes do not know whether they are in the game or not. It stars Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law, flanked by actors such as Ian Holm and Willem Dafoe.
Tron (1982): In the early 1980s, while digital technology was not widespread, personal computers were still taking timid steps and the Internet was in its infancy, Steven Lisberger envisioned the story of a computer hacker and realized Tron, a legendary film that was to influence a multitude of video games, comics, and television series.
Indie Game- The movie (2012): Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky show a different side of the video game industry, that of independent designers. The viewer follows people who, working alone, in the evenings, at home, created games that later became enchanting, such as Super Meat Boy, Fez and Braid. This particular documentary was awarded in 2012.
Short Fan Films: There are many short films based on popular games; independent productions, machinima, with actors, with animation, etc. - some, in fact, refer to professional blockbusters. Some were chosen that travel the viewer to worlds inspired by the well-known games: Mass Effect, League of Legends, Pac-Man, Watch Dogs and many others.
