Toshiba launches new SSD series with encryption capabilities

Toshiba has introduced a new series of SSDs using NAND circuits and the ability to encrypt and securely erase data in capacities from 50 to 512 GB.

The available capacities of Toshiba's new HG6 series are 60, 128, 256 and 512 GB, with 2.5-inch and mSATA connection capability, so they can be installed in desktop PCs and laptops.

The connection to the computer is via the SATA 3.0 at 6 Gbit/s – 600 MB/s and Toshiba promises a data read speed of 534 MB/s and a write speed of 482 MB/s.
