What did Windows 8.1 bring?

One of the complaints of early Windows 8 users was that they wanted to get rid of the Start Screen with its famous tiles. In Windows 8.1, the user can choose to boot their system to the classic desktop.

Other changes are in Windows 8.1 are:

• Live tiles can be resized ,there is a greater variety in desktop backgrounds and colors.
• All of the user's devices are synchronized with a common Microsoft account.
• The upgraded app view allows users to see all apps at once,
• Help & Tips app added
• Every search is system-wide or online with Bing (swipe or type from the Start screen and Smart Search will find it—whether it's a document on your computer, a photo album in the cloud, a favorite app, a song from Xbox music, or a web page).

• Windows 8.1 also comes with Internet Explorer 11, a browser “ideally designed for touch devices.” Internet Explorer 11 syncs browsing history, favorites, and settings across all of the same user’s Windows 8.1 devices.
• Windows 8.1 also supports 3D printing, offering plug-and-play support for 3D printers and allowing applications to print 3D jobs and recognize 3D file types.

• Windows 8.1 allows users to view and use up to 4 apps at the same time, side by side. The size of the windows can be changed.
• Microsoft also mentions improved support for multiple displays. The user can display the desktop on one display and apps from the Windows Store on the other (or on all of their displays). It is also possible to display a Metro app on one display and another Metro app on the other.
• Deep integration of cloud services with SkyDrive, so that all files are available via Skydrive from all the user's devices.
• The Windows Store is changing its design: Microsoft is talking about easier viewing of apps, new categories (for new and emerging apps, New & Rising) as well as personalized recommendations that use Bing's advanced selection system.
• With Windows 8.1, apps are updated automatically.
