It seems that the UK is really trying to stamp out all forms of press freedom. A group of members of the English parliament have launched an investigation into the Guardian's publication of articles that referred to mass surveillance based on documents leaked by the NSA by Edward Snowden.
The head of the Home Affairs Committee of the English House of Commons, Keith Vaz, says he will examine the Guardian of its involvement in the Snowden leaks.
"I have received a letter from Liam Fox asking the Home Office to appoint a committee to examine the Guardian's role, and the publication of evidence, in the Snowden leaks," said Keith Vaz.
Additionally, Liam Fox asked Prime Minister David Cameron for a “full and transparent assessment of the Guardian’s involvement in the Snowden affair.” In response, Cameron encouraged an investigation into the matter.
British journalists have been facing a difficult time in recent months, as government officials have launched an effort to intimidate them into not publishing about GCHQ [the secret service Government Communications Headquarters].
A few months ago, the Guardian was forced to destroy its hard drives after it refused to hand over the relevant files to GCHQ.
