Every August for the past 500 years, a German festival has been held in a forest in Bavaria. The festival features a traditional folk tale called Drachenstich, or “the Slaughter of the Dragon.” The dragon, of course, is a giant animatronic robot that breathes real fire.
It's called Tradinno, and it was first presented at the festival in 2010. Since then, it has been scaring young children. Its size is truly gigantic. In addition to being 16 meters tall, it also weighs 11 tons. Its wingspan is 13 meters. For the fire that comes out of its mouth, it uses liquid gas that is stored under its "skin" of polyurethane and glass. Somewhere in there are also 21 gallons of fake blood.
Tradinno is not the first giant dragon for Drachenstich, but he is the first to be completely remote-controlled.
