Facebook has started offering users a feature that could prove to be interesting but also incredibly annoying. It offers the ability to upload photos along with your comments.
The operation is quite simple, to the right of the comments field you will now notice a new icon, a camera in a dimmed icon.
This feature is rolling out globally, so you may not have it yet. If you see the icon, clicking on it will allow you to upload a photo to Facebook to enhance your comment.
In fact, you can leave out the text altogether and just upload a photo.
Bob Baldwin, who created the feature, said: “When I’m talking to a friend, sometimes a picture helps me tell a story much better than words alone. If we’re hanging out face-to-face, I can show you a picture from my phone, but until now on Facebook you had to post a link to a picture. Now, you’ll be able to attach a picture of yourself right away, along with typing a comment.”
Judging by the reactions to the announcement and all the photos that have already been posted in the comments below, this is a feature that users seem to like. Although changes in general and new features on Facebook usually annoy users.
And before you ask….no, you can’t use GIF images. For now, at least.
