Kidnapping of 13-year-old via Facebook

Pakistani police managed to rescue a little boy who had been kidnapped via Facebook.

Karachi PoliceIn the case of the kidnapping that took place in Pakistan, criminals used Facebook to lure and kidnap a 13-year-old to demand ransom.

Kidnappings, for money but also for political reasons, are a real danger in some parts of the world, and Pakistan is one of them.

The boy met his kidnappers in an online game on Facebook. It took them six months to build a relationship of trust and then they arranged a meeting last week. After that meeting, the boy disappeared.

The criminals demanded 50 million rupees, around $500,000, from his parents. Local police tracked down the kidnappers from their mobile phones.

After a raid, they managed to rescue the child, but the five criminals are dead, as reported by the BBC.
