After Tim Cook's statements that most upgraded products will be seen towards the end of the year, marking a period from October onwards, a series of rumors have begun, and so today we read about the possibility that Apple will present us with a cheap iPad Mini.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who we have emphasized is quite reliable and has proven this in the past, initially stated that due to problems Apple is facing with the iPad Mini's Retina display, it has created delays and so we will probably see it presented sometime in October.
The truth is that we expected something like this too, but Ming went on to say that in the meantime, Apple might introduce a cheap iPad Mini. The reasons are more or less the same as the cheap iPhone theory, since a more affordable iPad Mini would boost the company's profits, especially in markets like China.
Its price could be between $199 and $249, making sacrifices in materials as well as features like the camera, etc
In his eyes, Apple could take a number of approaches to reduce the cost of building an iPad mini. His proposed options include removing the rear camera, reducing internal storage to 8 gigabytes, simplifying production of the metal casing, or using a more advanced process to build the A5 processor.
Apple is also preparing an upgrade for the iPad, with the iPad 5 rumored to follow the design line of the iPad Mini, but many believe it will have difficulty surpassing the success of the iPad Mini.
