Security company McAfee has patented a new technology that will prevent the public from accessing pirated movies and music when they are online . The new application , which will expand the services of the existing SiteAdvisor , will be able to detect and block pirated material from any website. As an additional measure, it will present users with legal alternatives .
Copyright holders have been trying for years to get search engines and Internet providers to block websites containing illegal material, thereby making it more difficult for interested users to access it , reports Torrentfreak .
Until now , these efforts have been in vain , but McAfee has presented this new technology that will at least please the beneficiaries . The new patent filed in California describes a system that can prevent users from accessing any pirated content .
Titled “Detection and prevention of consumption of illegal content on the internet,” the patent covers a large blocklist that could warn consumers or completely block their access to these websites.
