Samsung has been making Apple's processors since the A4 was first introduced in 2010, however, Apple has been doing everything it can to cut off all cooperation with the Korean company in the last year.
According to a rumor from Economic Daily News, once Apple's contract with Samsung expires in 2014, TSMC will take over the creation of the A7 processors (which will be introduced next year).
If the rumor is true, then the A7 will be the first processor that is not from Samsung. After last summer's lawsuit, where Apple won $1 billion in damages from Samsung, the Cupertino company is doing everything it can to cut all ties with it, among what it has done so far is not including it anywhere in the creation of the iPad mini, while rumors want it to stay away from any next-generation iOS device.
However, there seems to be a discrepancy in the rumor. Economic Daily News claims that it will create the A7 processor in 2014, which will theoretically be for the iPhone 6, which means that we won't see it in either the iPhone 5S or the iPad 5 this year. Apple traditionally releases its new processors in new iOS devices, and the A7 was expected to be introduced in the iPhone 5S this year, which means that either we won't see it this year and it might use a variant of the A6, or that TMSC will start creating the A8 next year.
