According to sources from Digitimes, Apple and Samsung, following the steps of Nokia, LG and HTC, are thinking of bringing wireless charging to their smartphones this year. The feature will apply to their flagship devices such as the iPhone 5S and the Galaxy S IV.
For those who are not familiar with Digitimes, let's say it has a very bad reputation with rumors, especially those concerning Apple, which is why we do not easily believe it and we advise you to do the same.
According to Digitimes, Samsung will bring wireless charging to the Galaxy S IV, which will be announced on March 14, with the Korean company using Qi technology, a creation of the Wireless Power Consortium.
Wireless charging, however, may not be integrated into the device. According to sources, users may need to purchase a special back case that will have the technology integrated.
As for Apple, according to the same sources, it is very likely to use a similar technology which, however, it has created itself, but they could not confirm with certainty whether we will see it on the iPhone 5S or on the iPhone 6 in 2014. They also could not say whether it will be integrated into the device or not.
Given, of course, that Apple is more focused on its products, it will probably be integrated. If it ultimately decides to use such technology.
Furthermore, in the announcement of the iPhone 5, Phil Schiller said that using a wireless charging system is not a simple matter, because we still have to plug a device into the wall and, according to Schiller, most of the time this is not the easiest solution.
