Earlier this month, Melinda Gates told a reporter in England that her children asked for iPods for Christmas, but Bill Gates didn't want to give them Apple products because the family's wealth comes from Microsoft.
This isn't the first time Melinda Gates has mentioned that her children want Apple products. Two years ago, Melinda Gates took part in another interview and said that she had argued with her children about whether to let them have iPods. Her response was that they could have a Zune if they wanted.
Today, FOX Business Network had an interview with Bill Gates, in which he said that his children have never asked for an Apple product. Someone is lying.
The interview has been posted on FOX Business, and Bill Gates says quite interesting things about his philanthropy, online education, and what the technology landscape is like right now.
During the interview, Gates said the following when asked about what his wife said in her recent interview: "They've never asked. So I don't know. It would be interesting if they had asked, but they love their Windows Phone and their Windows PCs ." The phrase is found at the end of the interview.
Gates may be a smart and charismatic man, but he is not at all right not to have Apple products in his home, and what he said in the interview seems to be a lie. His wife on the other hand is more honest because she has admitted that their children want Apple products and that they themselves do not allow them to have them.
He even admitted that he gave them a Zune when they asked for an iPod. Who gives their kids a Zune? It's like asking for a Transformer and being given an empty tin can.
It would be good for Bill Gates to admit what has happened, and from now on, when his children ask him for a product from another company, he should give them that, and not the one he thinks is more appropriate.
