NASA has released a photo of the area where Curiosity is preparing for its new mission. The robotic explorer will drill into the surface of Mars to take samples from its subsurface and analyze them.

The new mission
The area where the robot is located was named by NASA "John Klein" in honor of the engineer John Klein who participated in the construction of Curiosity and died in 2001.
It is a rocky area today that scientists believe was once covered by water. It is therefore possible that some forms of life developed there, traces of which may be in sediments that have formed under the rocks of the area.
The mission team is looking for the most suitable spot for Curiosity to dig. "We estimate that within the next two weeks, Curiosity will make the first holes in the ground," says Richard Cook, one of the mission leaders.
