Facebook announced a new upcoming feature yesterday – its Graph Search. It’s a new search technology that will allow users to search and filter content posted by their friends. For example, if you want to know about a good restaurant in a certain place, you can search through posts, or photos of your friends to see if they know anything. In short, anything you share on Facebook will be able to appear in search results to anyone you allow to see your profile. Of course, this raises a lot of questions about your security and privacy.
Facebook released the video below to help explain when its new Graph Search may impact its users' privacy.
Here's a quick list of things you should do to better protect your privacy from Graph Search:
Limit “Who can search for me?” to friends only.
Don’t let search engines link to your Timeline.
Review all messages or photos you’ve been tagged in.
Limit who can see your future posts.
