Squaw Valley, CA – After more than a year that has been bothering us, GoPro has finally presented its new drone, the Karma, which operates with the new Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session action cameras. It is truly sheer beauty.

The compact drone solves one of the most fundamental problems faced by other drones, such as the outstanding Phantom 4 from DJI: portability. Unlike other drones, the Karma is small enough to fit into regular-sized backpacks (although it comes with its own bag case).

While many drones come with a built-in camera, the Karma does not. Users can connect to any of GoPro's Hero action cameras, including the recently released Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session, as well as the Hero 4 cameras.

The unmanned aircraft features a 3-axis camera stabilizer that keeps the Hero steadily mounted and ensures that the footage will be properly stabilized and smooth. Additionally, the stabilizer is removable and can be connected to another component called Karma Grip for portable or vehicle-mounted video recording.

The drone is controlled with a gamepad-style controller with two joysticks and a built-in touch screen. The clamshell-type remote reminds us a bit of the portable NVIDIA Shield.

The Karma costs $799 on its own, but it will be available in a bundle with the new action camera Hero 5 for $1099 or with the Hero 5 Session for $999. The drone will be available on October 23.
