Apple is working on new features to showcase them on its iPhones and iPads, so it can enhance the capabilities of these devices.
Apparently, one of the upcoming features will be recording videos, snapping photos, and collecting fingerprints from smartphone. Apple has filed a patent application for a method that involves storing biometric information from an unauthorized user, so that the security of smartphones will be enhanced. This will apparently make it very easy for authorities to track down thieves. The operation of this particular feature could be triggered by repeated failed attempts to unlock the device or if the owner of the phone activates the Find My iPhone service from another device. It is also reported that smartphones will be able to “capture” more than one fingerprint, photo or video of the thief, as well as audio files, etc. This new feature will be integrated with all the other tools that Apple has to help users find their phones. Find My iPhone helps users mark their devices as lost so that their locations can be tracked so they can be found.
Apart from this, the tech company also offers Activation Lock feature that prevents anyone from resetting smartphones without the owner's approval using their Apple ID and password. Apple also offers its users the ability to remotely wipe phones in case of loss or theft or to secure information using high-end encryption.
One must keep in mind that smartphone manufacturers often file patents for various projects and ideas, but this does not necessarily mean that they will be implemented in future products. However, considering that this is a security feature, Apple has many reasons to incorporate this tool into its devices.
