Hackers attacked the Art Gallery Website, Fur Affinity and deleted everything!

The well-known and widely-used online hub for the furry community has disappeared from the internet. The furry community is a group of people who have a keen interest in anthropomorphic human characters such as wolves and foxes. Hackers have deleted all kinds of content from the site, including images and user profiles. Fur Affinity is actually an online gallery that allows users to upload music, art, and written content.

It is also possible that the hackers stole email addresses and passwords. The self-proclaimed Chief Operating Officer of the website, who uses the pseudonym Chase, stated on the site's discussion forum that the attackers gained access to personal data such as encrypted passwords and email addresses.
The announcement was made on Friday, while on Sunday morning a user named Fender clarified that the passwords have already been reset. Fender also revealed that the website had been experiencing problems since early May as researchers identified some technical problems and vulnerabilities in the ImageMagick library. The hackers who attacked the website exploited this weakness and ran arbitrary code to hack the website by downloading its source code before the administrators had time to fix the flaws.

According to Motherboard, exactly a week later, the administrator of the website using the name Dragoneer heard that users were selling Fur Affinity source code on USB sticks, and the same day the website was hacked again. In the next phase of the attacks, the website's content was deleted by the hackers. However, the website's security team prevented key elements from being deleted.
Dragoneer explained on the website's forum that the team was so busy investigating the sale of the source code that someone launched a second attack using information from the source code. Fortunately, the security team was able to restore Fur Affinity using backups on May 11th, and now the damage is not as great.
