Exoskeletons have made a big splash in popular culture, showcasing their abilities. They allow the wearer to push their limits and lift more weight. Now, Hyundai is said to be working on an exoskeleton that will make you feel like Iron Man, although you shouldn't try flying with it, as the end result could leave you paraplegic.
Thanks to the joint efforts of Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Rotem, and Kia Motors, their latest exoskeleton can be used to help workers perform tasks they couldn't before.
Since they work in a factory, it usually means they have to move heavy objects all the time, and wearing an exoskeleton means they can easily lift many more kilograms than their bodies are used to, and reduce the amount of time required to complete the project.
It is likely that the exoskeleton could also be used for a variety of other applications, such as advanced warfare, but as shown in the image, this exoskeleton is excessively large to be used in any form of war. Additionally, these machines can also be used as prosthetics to help those who wear them regain the ability to walk again. Hyundai has expressed its views in the following statement:
“We are developing this wearable robot for commercial purposes and it will be used in various fields. Such advanced robots are in line with Hyundai Motor Group’s vision of free movement of people and things.”
Hyundai does not disclose the price of the exoskeleton, but seeing where it can be used, it is clear that it will not be low.
