A Facebook spokesperson told VentureBeat: “At Messenger, we’re always looking to create new ways for people to communicate seamlessly with everyone. We’re currently testing the ability for people to bring all their SMS and Messenger conversations into one place. It’s a really simple way to get, see, and respond to all your SMS messages in one app. Allowing access to SMS also gives you all the other features Messenger has to offer.”

The social network declined to say how many users will benefit from this feature. The test is only for a small number of Android users in the US.
