Creating a successful product is the ultimate goal of every company and of course, very difficult to achieve. Especially when the product is not tangible, but a service, such as operating systems. Microsoft is trying to achieve it, but Google, which is moving on the same path, has admittedly overtaken it in recent years.
Google focuses on making processes more efficient. Android is one of its biggest products. And understanding its ever-growing dominance in the mobile space, Google moves towards the combination of desktop-focused Chrome OS with Android mobile OS.
If we compare Chrome OS and Android, the former is less flexible but more secure. Nevertheless, with Android Marshmallow, Google has made considerable progress regarding the security side with mandatory encryption and secure boot. With the upcoming Android N, which will be announced at Google I/O, we can expect real surprises from Google.
Last month, Google announced the Pixel C tablet, which was inspired by the Microsoft Surface Pro and the Apple iPad Pro. Deciding which OS would be suitable to run on larger screen touch devices, Microsoft created an OS that can also ‘change’ between the two modes (mobile/desktop).
With the decision to kill Chrome OS and keep its best features for the upcoming Android Nutella (oops! I was supposed to mention Android N), Google follows Microsoft’s lead. Naming now the new Android N, and Android Nougat is a powerful paper!
While Android Marshmallow focused mainly on security and making Android a corporate-suitable product, Android N will truly be a revolutionary change! Earlier, late last year, Google announced that newer versions of Android would be free of unnecessary bloatware, and Android N would be the perfect platform to make that start.
What are your expectations for the new Android N? Which name do you prefer? – Android Nutella or Android Nougat? We are waiting for your comments!
