The deal of the year is definitely the announcement of the acquisition of the very popular chat application for smartphones, WhatsApp , by Facebook for a total purchase amount of 16 billion dollars!
WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging application over the Internet, with over 430 million users who exchange more than 50 billion messages daily!
The WhatsApp company will receive $4 billion in cash , $12 billion in Facebook shares , and another $3 billion in four-year restricted shares that will belong to the WhatsApp team.
The application will of course still function normally, but it is possible that we will see some integration with Facebook Messenger.
