The latest victim of the Syrian Electronic Army is Microsoft. The official Skype Twitter account was compromised by hackers in order to share a tweet about espionage.
The notification states: “Don’t use Microsoft’s email services (hotmail, outlook). They are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to governments. ttp://blogs.skype.com/2014/01/01/dont-use-microsoft-emails-hotmailoutlook-they-are-monitoring-your-accounts-and-selling-the-data-to-the-governments/”
The hackers also leaked a tweet from Microsoft's US CEO, which reads: "You can thank Microsoft for monitoring your accounts/emails using this information."
An exclusive screenshot provided to e Hacking News shows that hackers broke into Skype's WordPress blog, as well as its social media account.
It appears that hackers have taken over the account of “Shana pearlman” who is the Content Marketing Manager at Skype.
The team managed to publish an article on this site titled: “blogs.skype.com/2014/01/01/dont-use-microsoft-emails-hotmailoutlook-they-are-monitoring-your-accounts-and-selling-the-data-to-the-governments/”. The title and content of the article mention that as does the tweet they shared via the official account.
Of course, the article has been removed from the page and Skype has regained access to its Twitter account.
