Tablets and smartphones banned from government meetings in Britain

iPad_1The British government has officially adopted the use of tablets , having ordered iPads for members of parliament and designed an app specifically for Prime Minister David Cameron.

However, it seems that recently, for security reasons was banned during Cabinet meetings and other sensitive government meetings.

The fear concerns electronic "bugs" that may have been installed on the devices of ministers and other British government officials.

For this reason, those participating in relevant meetings are required to place their mobile devices in special soundproof cases, as reported by the Telegraph and Independent.

The reports state that the fears mainly concern espionage from Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan, countries which, along with the US, have the technology and ability to activate the microphone of a tablet or smartphone even when the device is off.
