Windows 10 continues its rapid growth and according to preliminary data for the month of November, the operating system is the most widespread platform for computers, managing to surpass Windows XP and Mac OS X.
Released last July, Windows 10 had a rapid growth but growth slowed in September because most users decided to wait for the release of Threshold 2 and then install the operating system.
According to statistics, Threshold 2 attracts more users, but because these statistics only refer to the first 15 days of November, the impact of the release of this update on the Windows 10 market cannot be fully measured.
Windows 7 remains on top!
Currently, Windows 7 remains the number one operating system in the world with a 49.91% share, followed by Windows 8.1 with 13.11%. In other words, Windows 7 is still the platform of choice for one in two computers, which is quite impressive considering that this operating system was released in 2009 while the other two versions were released later.
Windows 10, however, managed to accelerate its growth and reached 9.8%, and by the end of the month this number is expected to increase since Threshold 2 is an important reason for many to upgrade their operating system.
Microsoft states that with Threshold 2 the operating system is also ready for businesses and given that companies have dozens, hundreds or even thousands of computers that they need to upgrade, the growth will be very significant in the coming months .
The free upgrade, however, is only available to individual users and not to businesses, which must pay for the license.
So the challenge is whether Microsoft can finally convince businesses to upgrade their operating system.
