It may seem like it comes from a science fiction movie, but it's real! The flying scooter will be presented by the company Arx Pax on October 21st and will be the second version of the product.
What once seemed impossible and only came to life on screen through Marty's McFly, is now a reality.
Last year, the Hendo hoverboard made headlines when it launched a Kickstarter funding campaign and raised over $510,000.
It was billed as the world's first hoverboard. As amazing as the Hendo was, it was nothing like the McFly. It was big, bulky (riders were likened to horsemen riding a giant hockey stick), and extremely difficult to ride. It also only worked on a special surface with an electromagnetic field.
The Hendo hoverboard 2.0 will be more like a skateboard, said Arx Pax co-founder and CEO Greg Henderson. The new Hendo hoverboard will be larger (36 inches) and thinner (10 inches), with front and rear steering tips and a socket that will house the electromagnetic propulsion system to hover above the ground.
To make the Hoverboard 2 easier to ride, the company enlisted pro skateboarder and legend Tony Hawk to give his opinion on the project and of course test it. Arx Pax claims that the new hoverboard will have stronger hovering technology, better traction, and better control.
Arx Pax also promises better charging, longer battery life, and USB connectivity in version 2.0 of the Hendo hoverboard.
